2012 is finally here. Shrouded in suspense and mystery, just what will this year bring? The tides of change are lapping at our shores and soon the darkness will be no more! My only resolution is to be more creative, seems that door has been pretty much shut this last year, apart from the blog that is. Not that I am superstitious or anything, but there is that crumby saying floating around that dictates what you are doing on new Years Eve will continue on for the coming year. With this lingering at the back of my mind (but I'm not superstitious I swear), I have taken over the dining table and spent the day playing around in all my creativity boxes, making all manner of gorgeous arrangements, this just makes my heart sing and I truly am the happiest when I am creating.

So........to my darling husband down there in the South Pole, my son, family and my friends who have stuck by me and dragged me through this challenging year, and to all of you out there..........

He has been very busy this week making us all sorts of goodies and as a result we have our first ever home-made gingerbread house. Not bad at all. Have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. Feeling the Coming Changes!!

Righto, into the serious stuff today!! I have been sitting here this last couple of weeks feeling an inner bubbling. At first I thought it was just me getting merry and feeling the Santa spirit, but now I know it's more than that. Some might say, well it won't be long until husband is home so this would be making you pretty excited. But it's not that either, that is still three months away and I really haven't let myself think too much about it yet, there is still a fair bit to get through and an awful lot can transpire in three months as we all know!! No, this is coming from a deeper level within my being, the soul level.

The last time I felt this strangely agitated excitement was in 1990, right before the world as I knew it exploded all around me, the veil between the realms shifted so that I might catch a glimpse of what was hidden behind it. This event was so life-changing it reshaped who I was completely. I walked out of that experience a very different human being to the one who slammed right into it.

Being an empath means one is highly sensitive to the vibrations of other creatures, people, plants and in fact sometimes it seems like the entire universe. With such an emotional connection going on, it can at times, be very difficult to separate just what is what and who the hell owns the stuff churning around inside you, but you do learn eventually to differentiate. And this morning it hit me!! This feeling climbing it's way to the surface is just the same as it was all those years ago. There is an eager anticipation of things to come, it feels almost electric and to quote Spiderman, my spidey senses are tingling!! Six more sleeps, look out here he comes!!!

Yes only six more sleeps and the mad dash has begun. I'm not sure how I manage to turn a simple procedure into a complicated mess, but I have succeeded yet again!! A couple of Secret Santas that should have been done and dusted last Thursday are still on the drawing board. So today is the day!! There will be another trip in to town and some racing around before things are finally sorted. Lots of cute bargains everywhere (I do love nice Christmas decorations, and trees and wreaths, and pretty twinkly lights, and reindeers). I know I know, we don't even have them in Australia, but Christmas is just not Christmas without a reindeer or two. 

I was wondering how I would go with husband being away, but you know, that Christmas spirit gets in like nothing else. I have my overloaded with as many decorations as a person can find, tree up, all my santas are staring at me, the wreaths are hanging inside and out, and norty norty me (yes I know it's spelt wrong, but I think it looks better this way), I did manage to find a couple of big silver reindeer jobs from a nice shop in town, a girl can't have too many reindeers at Chrissy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Hope you are all faring well in this mad race to the Christmas finishing line. Not long now!!

Husband in Antarctica 2011

I thought I should probably do an update seeing husband has been in Antarctica for 10 months now. Having a wow of a time of course, checking out all that gorgeous icy white scenery and the cute penguins. It's not all beer and skittles though as he would say, there have been some tough moments when the machinery and amenities they have to work on just won't play ball. Or it's blizzing so bad they can't get from A to B and the howling winds during the night keep them awake. At the moment though there is no night, it's full on sunshine for a month so sleeping is very disrupted. But they seem to be a tough bunch with great spirit, who all look out for each other and also have a knack for spotting when things are getting to someone. Then they rally round and cheer each other up so they can continue on with their very special journey. The journey of a life time for sure.

Having said all this, let it also be known that they seem to be party animals who indulge often in 7or10 course celebratory meals. They welcome in 'this' and see out 'that' and dress rather unusually for some of these festive occasions too I might add!! These pics I probably shouldn't show, can't have it known husband has taken a fancy to cross dressing now can I?? There is a rather disturbing photo of him floating around in a maids costume, seriously husband!! Murder mystery evening, dart play offs between stations via video link up and the list goes on. Needless to say I have informed husband there will be no ten course meals with fancy dress when he arrives home, life will go back to being pretty ordinary for him I'm afraid. Running through the snow in the freezing cold weather naked isn't as popular as one might think, but it has been done!! And this week it was shorts and t-shirt time at just -1.5 degrees so I'm thinking husband might fry a little when he arrives home to the end of summer in the mid thirties.

Technically husband has been out of this house for over a year, as there was a three month training stint in Tassie to begin with before they even set off on the big orange ship to Antarctica. So that's where I'm counting from!!! I really can't believe how much time has passed since that tearful day at the airport, but here it is a year later??? Just where has that time evaporated to?? I look behind me and can't see much of anything but fog really, I think I have been in a bit of a daze/haze while he has been gone doing his thing down there in the South Pole. I am certainly looking forward to his return and it is almost countdown time. Mid march he is due home, so we will get through Christmas and then the countdown will begin!! Bring it on!

Amazing Cats

Oh my gosh they really are going to take over the world, check this out!!! I have only ever seen Spooky do this once, it is so trippy when you catch them, there is a serious double take because you can't believe what you are seeing and a very weird feeling goes with it. It's almost like watching evolution at work, next step forward for kitties is 'walkin tall' maybe?? OMG how cute would that be? Miss Kitty has her own peculiar way of eating also, she dips her paw into her food, scoops it up and then brings her paw to her mouth. Fork for Chrissy maybe??
